Terms and Conditions of Subscription

NOTE: All of the following are subject to change and all members will be informed of the changes 2 months in advance.

  1. SA Muslim Funeral Services (SAMFS) membership is open to all South Australia Muslims (a person who believes in the oneness of Allah and that Prophet Muhammad PBUH was the last and final messenger) with the understanding and acceptance that the funeral and burial practices will be conducted according to the Sunni principles that SAMFS operates under.
  1. Services for members included in the capped financial support (as defined in points 15 to 17) are transportation of the deceased’s body, shrouding, washing, the Janazah Prayer, burial and the grave identifier with the deceased’s name and date of death. 
  1. NOTE: In keeping with the Islamic perspective of having a simple grave, not included in the service are any form of construction on or around the graves (e.g. whitewash, plaster, decorations, plantations, flowers, mausoleums etc. irrespective if the cemetery rules and regulations allow for this. 
  1. SAMFS membership is non– transferrable. 
  1. Funeral costs are specific to South Australia only and is based on a maximum 25-year lease. 
  1. The Joining Fees and ongoing membership fees are non-refundable should a member decide to cancel their membership. 
  1. Joining fees and annual membership fees must be paid via direct debit from the members bank account at the time of signing the subscription with SAMFS. 
  1. Membership fees and the SAMFS contribution capped amounts will be reviewed each financial year. Any changes to the fees will be communicated to the members 2 months prior to the implementation date. 
  1. NOTE: The Financial year is from 01 July to 30 June
  1. Membership fees will be calculated from the date of approval of membership from SAMFS. (Start date of membership will be in approved email from SAMFS)
  1. A Family means a husband and wife or parents with two dependent children (18 years of age or under). 
  1. Additional family members are dependent children between 5 and 18 years of age. 
  1. NOTE: A dependent child on reaching the age of 18 years will no longer be considered as a dependent and will need to apply for membership as an individual. 
  1. SAMFS’s contribution towards any member’s funeral costs will be capped at $5,000 until SA Muslim Funeral Services reaches a total of 1,000 active accounts as reflected in their books
  1. SAMFS’s contribution towards any member’s funeral costs will be capped at $7,000 when the total active accounts are greater than 1,000 and less than 2,000 accounts
  1. SAMFS’s contribution towards any member’s funeral costs will be capped at $9,000 when the total active accounts are equal to or greater than 2,000. 
  1. NOTE: One Account is created for a Family membership and one account is created for an individual membership, which are then totaled to reflect the total number of active SAMFS accounts in their books. This will be updated weekly and displayed on the SAMFS website. 
  1. NOTE: The family of the deceased member will be responsible for any additional funeral costs over and above the specified capped amounts at the time of the member’s death. 
  1. Should a member die interstate or overseas then whatever the SAMFS capped contribution at the time will be transferred to the next of Kin in support of the interstate or overseas burial. 
  1. NOTE: SAMFS is not responsible for the interstate or overseas transportation of the deceased’s body. 
  1. If a member wishes to cancel their membership then they need to advise SAMFS in writing 2 weeks prior to the cancellation date or simply complete the cancellation form available on the SAMFS website or by contacting one of the SAMFS representative. 
  1. Any changes to the member’s bank accounts or residential address will need to be communicated 2 weeks in advance by completing the change of details form available on our website. 
  1. Funds will only be realised once SAMFS receives the interim death certificate for a deceased member.
